Bloominous. A Wedding DIY-er's Delight!

Every now and again, I do some photography other than weddings.  Families, sweet sixteens, babies and sometimes, product photography.  It is a nice change of pace, and on some occasions, like this, it opens my eyes to some cool stuff.  I was contacted by the folks at Bloominous to take some photos of their product line.  When they told me what they did, I was intrigued.  The conversation went a bit like this:

Me: So, tell me a bit about what you guys are about?

Bloominous (B):  Well, when I was planning my wedding, I had a budget for flowers for the wedding.  But there were few options for staying in on budget.  Basically, pay a lot of money for a florist, which was pretty expensive, or try the DIY thing.  While researching how to do arrangements, and looking for flowers, we found out there was A LOT to digest and learn.  But we figured out a way to simplify the process by coming up with kits that make thing easy.  And by easy, I mean EASY.  We provide all the flowers and parts needed to assemble them into bouquets, centerpieces and boutonnieres.  Just choose a theme and you are ready to go.

Me: Wow.  Pretty cool.  Now, how easy are these to assemble?

B: Really easy.  If it’s your first time making a bouquet, it will probably take you 15 minutes or so to make.  And the process is pretty similar between bouquets and centerpieces, so each one will get easier once you get the hang of it.

So needless to say, I was hooked on the idea and really keen to see what they had done.  Come the day of the shoot, I was really amazed by how awesome the kits were.  They really looked like professional arrangements. Really colorful and vibrant.

And one of their kits was one of the most amazing ideas I had ever seen or heard of!  Imagine having a bouquet and boutonniere that you could hold and wear to your wedding and later plant and let grow with you through your marriage!  How cool!

I have done a bunch of shoots to date with them in various locations around Los Angeles, and on one of the shoots they were doing some how-to videos. I got to see the process on how the arrangements were made first hand.  After watching how they do it, I really got a sense that even I could do this.  I cannot reiterate this enough. Coolest DIY idea ever for weddings.  Or parties even.  Or, just for the heck of it.

Now, "How does it work?", you ask.  Well, maybe this video will help,

I really do love the guys at Bloominous.  And I love the creativity that they show with their arrangements and kits.  And that they are really trying to honestly save you some money on your wedding, while not compromising your vision of a perfect setting.  Head on over to their website and take a look at their breathtaking creations!
